TransCanada Political Contributions —- Complaints Filed

Complaints filed against Neb. campaigns of Bruning, Heineman over TransCanada contributions. Federal complaints have been filed against the re-election campaigns of Gov. Dave Heineman and Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning. The group Bold Nebraska also filed a complaint against TransCanada Corp., which made $2,500 donations to both Republican campaigns. Bold Nebraska says the contributions violated federal law that bars campaign contributions from foreign entities. The Heineman and Bruning campaigns say they returned the money when told by state regulators that it came from the Canadian corporation, not from a U.S. subsidiary. Bold Nebraska describes itself as progressive, independent, moderate and populist and outlines its mission as providing balance to the conservative voices that dominate Nebraska’s leadership.
